Welcome to the Global Generation Foundation

Global Generation Foundation was established to help support Family Medicine programs where access to quality health care is limited.  Family Medicine graduates provide primary health care, which according to the World Health Organization, addresses the main health problems in the community, providing preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.

Often in resource-poor countries, the rural population is served by health care workers or traditional healers who have only basic skills in treating common illnesses.  The people living in cities are served by doctors who are trained in various specialties such as obstetrics, surgery, or pediatrics.  If these specialist doctors were to work in the rural areas, they would not be able to handle many of the community’s problems.

Family doctors are trained to deal with illnesses which may present in patients of any age and gender.  Moreover, family doctors are trained to treat these medical problems even if they are not working in well-equipped hospitals. Many countries in the world would like to train more family doctors to provide comprehensive health care to their populations.
